JENNIFER DE CASTROVERDE- Cathy

Jennifer De Castroverde was last seen as Millie in Picnic at A Noise Within.  She earned her Master degree at UCSD where her favorite roles included Smeraldina in Kingstag (directed by Andre Belgrader) and Cherubin in The Marriage of Figaro (directed by Loretta Greco).  She has appeared in national commercials for companies such as Target and Nationwide Insurance.

SHANNON HOLT - Jill

Shannon Holt - recently appeared in the critically acclaimed "She Stoops To Comedy" at the Evidence Room (LA Weekly Nomination - Leading Female Performance). Some other LA credits include "Girl On A Bed" for PaduaPlaywrights; "36 Views" at Laguna Playhouse; "Sex Parasite" and "Good Thing" f or Taper, Too; "M Butterfly" at East West Players; "White Cold Virgin Snow" and "Faust" by John Steppling at LATC; "Narrow Road to The Deep North", "The Oresteia", "The Good Woman Of Setzan" for Actors' Gang.Regionally - "The Illusion" at Trinity Rep; "Carnage, A Comedy" at NY'sPublic Theatre; "The Lively Lad" (Humana Festival) and "Crimes Of the Heart" at Actors' Theatre Of Louisville. NICOLAS READ - David

Nicolas has been acting in plays, films and televisions shows for just over a decade. He recently finished filming the feature  "My Confession" where he plays a serial killer. Recent film credits include "Fear Ever After," "Dough Kirkland," "Slaughter Studios," "Midnight Witness," "The Secret Cellar," "Paper Rocks Scissors," and "Deadly Stingers." TV credits include "S Club Seven," "Sunset Beach," "Beverly Hills 90210," "The Amanda Show" and recurring roles on MTV's "Undressed" and "Days of Our Lives." Plays include Bar Five, Conversations, Split Second, The White Liars, Boys Life, Specter, The Zoo Story, Detective Story, True West and Hurly Burly. He can currently be seen in the long running monologue show Sex, Relationships, and Sometimes...Love, which has been running a healthy two and a half years and is also running in New York. The multi cast, multiple  monologue show was written and directed by

Nicolas' girl friend, Joelle Arqueros, who he would like to dedicate his performance to.

A very special thanks to the cast of Complexity and to Jack for his extraordinary passion for the theatre and all he has given to make this such a remarkable experience.

Nick will be shooting the film "So Be it" in November of 2006.

JACK STEHLIN - Tom / Director

Artistic Director of Circus Theatricals

Notable Circus Theatricals productions include The Misanthrope, Macbeth, Hamlet, Richard III, Tartuffe, True West, The Cheats of Scapin, The Job.

Other Los Angeles Theatre Salome (Wadsworth w/ Al Pacino), Speed-the-Plow (Los Angeles premiere), and Habitation of Dragons.

Notable NYC credits include Richard II (dir. Steven Berkoff), Henry V (w/Kevin Kline), Casanova (w/ Ethan Hawke, dir. by Michael Greif), Henry IV, I (w/Mandy Patinkin, dir by Des McAnuff), Julius Caesar (w/ Al Pacino and Martin Sheen),Timon of Athens (dir. by Brian Kulick), Richard Foreman’s Don Juan, and Romeo and Juliet (dir. by Les Waters).

TV and film credits include the film "Salomaybe?" and guest star roles on "Without A Trace," "NCIS," "JAG," (recurring), "Buffy" (recurring ), "Judging Amy," "The Practice," "Crossing Jordan," "NYPD Blue," "ER."

Jack Stehlin currently teaches a Monday Night Scene Study with Performance Showcase. He was also Visiting Associate Professor in the UCLA Department of Theater for Winter 2005.

Jack founded Circus Theatricals in New York in 1983, and has produced over 40 plays in NYC and Los Angeles. An award-winning actor, Jack has appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theatre, and stages around the world. Jack is an alumnus of John Houseman's The Acting Company and a graduate of the Juilliard School.

Neil Vipond

NEIL VIPOND - George

Associate Artist, Circus Theatricals

With Circus Theatricals: Polonius in Hamlet, Margaret in Richard III

Neil Vipond began his career at the Stratford Festival in Canada playing young leading roles under the direction of Tyrone Guthrie and performing with such actors as Alec Guinness, Irene Worth and James Mason. Coming to New York he appeared with Uta Hagen in The Good Woman of Setzuan and gave a performance of Hamlet the New York Times called "electrifying." Since that time he has worked on and Off-Broadway and with many regional theatre in roles ranging from Weston in Curse of the Starving Class to James Joyce in Endgame, both directed by Jim Sheridan. His last appearance in New York before moving to Los Angeles was as Danforth in the Roundabout Theatre production of The Crucible. In Los Angeles, Neil has given award-wining performances as Shylock in Merchant of Venice, King Lear and as Dodge in Buried Child.

His television and film appearances are numerous. Most recently guest starring on "Will and Grace," "Cold Case," "Medium" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Derrick McDaniel (Lights)

With Circus Theatricals: The Misanthrope and Iphigenia in Aulis.

Derrick began his acting apprenticeship in 1990 at Theater East in Studio City, CA. This is where he honed the craft of stage lighting. A few of his lighting credits include “The Godfather Workout” for the HBO comedy festival in Aspen; “The Quiet Room” at the Whitefire Theater, “Worse Than Murder” at the Ventura Court Theater, and “Eubie Weller” at the Stella Adler Theater; “Among The Thugs” at the Odyssey Theater- and many others.  Derrick was nominated for a 2004 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle award for lighting, in “Among The Thugs”, as well as, a 2005 ADA lighting nomination. He has earned critical acclaim, many times over, for his designs. Derrick would like to thank you for your support of live theater. Enjoy.

 

John Freeland, Jr. - Stage Manager

John Freeland, Jr. is delighted to return to Circus Theatricals since stage managing their production of Iphigenia In Aulis.

Mr. Freeland stage managed, acted and directed in the 4th International Blind and Visually Impaired Theatre Festival ( Zagreb, Croatia). Other company’s include Robey Theatre Co, East West Players, Southwest Chamber Music, The National Black Theatre Festival (Winston-Salem, NC), The Matrix Theatre, Watts Village Theatre Co., Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Dept., The Actors Studio, Inner City Cultural Centre, Greenway Court Theatre, Towne Street Theatre, Central Avenue Jazz Festival and NAACP Theatre Awards.

John has also appeared in several theatre, TV and film productions.

He has also worked with several youth organizations including (Out) Law & Order , Virginia Avenue Project. For The Unusual Suspects in Central Juvenile Hall, Elkhorn Correctional Facility, Camp David Gonzales assisting them in creating material for performance. John is from Middletown, CT. and attended Wesleyan University.


John Bunzel

JOHN BUNZEL - Playwright

Circus Theatricals Associate Artist.

A graduate of The Juilliard School, Mr. Bunzel has worked extensively as a writer/producer and production executive for nearly 20 years.

Circus Theatricals has produced the World Premieres and West Coast Premieres of his award-winning plays "Delirious" and "Gravity Shoes."

His plays have been produced at such notable venues as The Odyssey Theatre, The Manhattan Theatre Club, the Pasadena Playhouse, and the Matrix Theatre. In 1991, he wrote and produced the series, STAT, on ABC and developed two other series for the network. In 1995, he co-wrote the film Born To Be Wild for Warner Brothers. He has also been hired to write screenplays for many of the major studios including Paramount, Lorimar and Fox. In addition, he served as President/CEO of the Los Angeles Playwrights Group from 1991 to 1998, overseeing the development of over 200 plays, many of them going on to productions in North America and Europe.

When he isn't writing, Mr. Bunzel is a wealth manager with Merrill Lynch.

JEANNINE STEHLIN - Producer / Sound Design

Managing Director, Circus Theatricals

Produced over 40 plays for Circus Theatricals, including Macbeth, Tartuffe, The Cherry Orchard, Richard III, Hamlet and The Cheats of Scapin, (Odyssey Theatre/Circus Theatricals co-productions) and the award-winning The Job by Shem Bitterman (LA and Off-Broadway). Acting credits include: Macbeth, Twelfth Night, The Job, Peer Gynt, Tartuffe, The Misanthrope, Hippolytus, The Stronger, The Art of Success, Women and Wallace.

Film, “Watch It,” and “Rancho Cucamonga, " The Phlebotomist." Jeannine made her first television appearance at the tender age of four on "Romper Room" (KDKA Pittsburgh).

Jeannine holds a B.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois, and an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Currently, Jeannine is getting her teaching artist designation with the Los Angeles County "Arts for All" program.
