IPHIGENIA IN AULIS is Euripedes’ classic tale of love, honor, and sacrifice.

In Iphigenia, the Greek king prepares his soldiers for an attack on Troy. To assure a victory, he must sacrifice his beloved daughter to the gods.

IPHIGENIA IN AULIS will play Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, April 15th – May 20th.

Past Circus Theatricals roles include Madge in Picnic (Great Scenes from Pulitzer Prize Winning Plays). Some favorite roles include: Viola in Twelfth Night, Emily in Our Town, Electra in Orestes, Sandy in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and two years as Helen Keller with Boston's Historical Perspectives for Children where she toured throughout New England. TV/Film credits include: Co-starring roles on “Close to Home”, “Judging Amy”, “Just Legal”, “Joan of Arcadia” (recurring), “Best Damn Sports Show”, “Geronimo”, “Human Highway”, “What’s the Matter with Helen?”, “Pete’s Dragon”, and guest appearances on “Fernwood 2Nite”, and “The Mike Douglas Show”.

Rocky is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and holds an M.F.A. from UCLA. She has taught in the Department of Theater at UCLA and a summer session of Commedia Dell’ Arte in Italy.

Recently relocated from New York, Jade Sealey’s latest stage credits include the roles of Cavale in Sam Sheperd’s Cowboy Mouth, Indra’s daughter in Strindberg’s A Dream Play, Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew, The Princess of France in Love’s Labour’s Lost, and Constanze in Amadeus.

COLETTE FREEDMAN - Adaptor

Member of Circus Theatricals Studio Ensemble/ Playwright

With Circus Theatricals: playwright/actress in "Ellipses…", "Deconstructing the Torah" and "First to the Egg". Acting credits include “That 70’s Show”, “JAG” as well as several independent films. Plays including “Rock, Paper, Scissors”, “Bridesmaid #3” and “Looking for Atticus Finch” have been produced across the country as well as in Canada, Australia and England. 2005 First Prize Winner for creative writing at Santa Barbara’s Writer’s Conference. Film work includes the documentary "Making Shakespeare Accessible" with narration by Alfred Molina and "Finding Fred Mertz" in which she also starred, (Best Screenplay of the Year, UrbanInsider) Her play “Sister Cities” is opening with Circus Theatricals in May and she is currently under commission to write “Felix and Fanny” about the life of composer Felix Mendelssohn. DENISE RENEE - Choreographer

Member of Circus Theatricals Studio Ensemble

Denise's professional dance career has taken her all over the world. She has performed in numerous stage productions in Central America, Japan, Mexico, Canada and has toured throughout the United States.  As a classical ballet dancer, Denise trained extensively with Ballet Met and performed in many ballet productions with them as well. She also trained at The American Ballet Theatre in New York, The Chamber Ballet in Ohio, The National Academy of Dance in Illinois and with Luigi, Doug Decater and Jim Taylor to name a few.  

On the classical ballet stage she has choreographed productions such as "Swan Lake" "The Nutcracker" "Cinderella" "Firebird" "Sleeping Beauty" "Stars and Stripes" "Coppelia" and original choreographic works of "Doctor Zhivago" and "The Magic Flute."  On the operatic stage, Denise has choreographed "Iolanthe" "The Magic Flute" and "Die Fledermaus" for the Cal State Opera Theatre. On the musical theatre stage, she has choreographed "Bye Bye Birdie" for Capital University, "Oklahoma" and "South Pacific" for The Patrons of the Arts Foundation, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" as assistant choreographer for The Lawrence Welk Resort Theatre and "The Boyfriend."  

Denise has choreographed for and danced in numerous television programs for Televisa in Mexico City where she was also principal dancer for Maestro Perez Prado and his Orchestra; principal dancer for Olga Breeskin and choreographer and principal dancer for the renowned singer Manolo Munoz. 

Denise is the Artistic Director of Artistic Dance Academy. Many of her students now perform professionally for Broadway National Tours, Cruise Lines, LA Laker Girls, Disney Land, Las Vegas Stages, Music Videos, Commercials, Television and Film.     



 

DANIEL NATHAN SPECTOR - Music Advisor

With Circus Theatricals, Dan played Zbo in Modigliani, Cleante in Tartuffe, Touchstone in As You Like It, Austin in True West, Martin in The Job, Feste in Twelfth Night, and George Tesman in Hedda Gabler. As a director, Dan directed an orginal adaptation of Aristophones' Lysistrata.

Other stage credits include Jumping for Joy (Laguna Playhouse), Visiting Mr. Green (Pasadena Playhouse), Beast on the Moon (International City Theatre), Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Seattle’s Intiman Theatre), Our Town (Long Wharf), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hartford Stage), The Two Gentlemen of Verona(New York Shakespeare Festival and Shakespeare Festival/L.A.), Kingdom of Earth (Westport Playhouse & Hudson Avenue). TV roles include: "Miracles, " "Boston Public," "Ally McBeal," "Leap of Faith," "American Family," "JAG,". Steven Berkoff), Henry V (w/Kevin Kline), Casanova (w/ Ethan Hawke, dir. by Michael Greif), Henry IV, I (w/Mandy Patinkin, dir by Des McAnuff), Julius Caesar (w/ Al Pacino and Martin Sheen),Timon of Athens (dir. by Brian Kulick), Richard Foreman’s Don Juan, and Romeo and Juliet (dir. by Les Waters).

TV and film credits include guest star roles on "Without A Trace," "NCIS," "JAG," (recurring), "Buffy" (recurring ), "Judging Amy," "The Practice," "Crossing Jordan," "NYPD Blue," "ER."

Jack Stehlin currently teaches a Monday Night Scene Study with Performance Showcase. He is also Visiting Associate Professor in the UCLA Department of Theater for Winter 2005.

Jack founded Circus Theatricals in New York in 1983, and has produced over 40 plays in NYC and Los Angeles. An award-winning actor, Jack has appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theatre, and stages around the world. Jack is an alumnus of John Houseman's The Acting Company and a graduate of the Juilliard School.

JEANNINE STEHLIN - Producer / Sound Design

Managing Director , Circus Theatricals

Produced over 40 plays for Circus Theatricals, including Macbeth, Tartuffe, The Cherry Orchard, Richard III, Hamlet and The Cheats of Scapin, (Odyssey Theatre/Circus Theatricals co-productions) and the award-winning The Job by Shem Bitterman (LA and Off-Broadway). Acting credits include: Macbeth, Twelfth Night, The Job, Peer Gynt, Tartuffe, The Misanthrope, Hippolytus, The Stronger, The Art of Success, Women and Wallace.

Film, “Watch It,” and “Rancho Cucamonga, " The Phlebotomist." Jeannine made her first television appearance at the tender age of four on "Romper Room" (KDKA Pittsburgh).

Jeannine holds a B.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois, and an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
